The team
Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms, trusted by over 10 million individuals and institutions across the globe. It offers spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services, with products built for both individual investors and institutional clients. The Finance team at Kraken is a group of specialists charged with managing the firm’s liquidity, capital and risk, and providing the overall financial controls and reporting functions for executive decision making, compliance, and audit readiness. Our work contributes directly to Kraken’s success. The Platform Accounting team is an integral part of the Finance organization responsible for financial accounting and reporting on a variety of trading products and transactions including fiat, digital assets, futures, margin, options and other new company initiatives. In addition, the Platform Accounting team oversees Over-the-Counter (“OTC”) operations, serving Kraken’s high-networth individuals and financial institutional clients. The Platform Accounting team is a dynamic organization at the forefront of building best in-class accounting processes and infrastructure to support Kraken’s mission of widespread adoption of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology as a whole. Responsibilities
- •Interface daily with internal systems and our proprietary exchange platform to assist with fiat and digital asset position reconciliations across our various banks and crypto wallets
- •Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end close to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- •Promptly research and correct discrepancies while communicating findings and actions to the appropriate stakeholders cross functionally
- •Support financial reporting & regulatory requests by providing complete, accurate and timely support for areas we are responsible for
- •Ensure accounting on both consolidated and stand alone financials comply with various different regulatory environments and entities across the globe
- •Independently manage and develop current reconciliation processes for greater efficiency and transparency, while analyzing data against business drivers to identify issues and trends
- •Maintain and review daily, monthly and yearly reconciliations for financial accounting issues and reporting
- •Provide support for internal and external audits
- •Document processes and procedures to ensure proper controls are maintained
- •Participate in ad hoc requests as assigned
- •Additional duties and responsibilities as required
Conditions
- •This is a remote role that requires you live and work within US timezones (Pacific to Eastern).

Requirements
- •Bachelors degree in Accounting or closely related field
- •2+ years of accounting/audit experience from the Big 4 or national accounting firms
- •Knowledge of US GAAP and experience with SOX
- •Collaborative, innovative, flexible, and adept at building relationships across the organization
- •Ability to handle multiple projects and deliverables in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- •Microsoft Excel proficiency including pivot tables, H & V-Lookup
Nice to haves
- •CPA in good standing
- •Industry experience in crypto, financial services, fintech, broker-dealer, banking, or exchange
- •Experience or knowledge of cryptocurrency
- •Experience and knowledge of SQL
- •Experience with high volume transactions
- •Experience using Netsuite
