Overview
Airbnb is seeking a Principal for APAC Tax to manage tax obligations and risks across the region, including Australia and South Korea, while partnering with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities
- •Manage local, country and regional-level tax negotiations, audits, negotiations with government authorities, implementations and oversee compliance.
- •Partner with local advisers and APAC Finance to oversee Airbnb’s tax obligations in your countries; identify opportunities to minimise tax liabilities and provide tax input on local stat reporting.
- •Assist with monitoring and analysing tax regulatory developments and tax law changes in the region, and communicate and document its impact to Airbnb and its business model.
- •Research and analyse new business initiatives (including mergers & acquisitions), and maintain documented tax technical advice and update relevant stakeholders as appropriate.
- •Manage special projects in the region, and provide input and manage portions of tax integration of newly acquired businesses as required.
Requirements
- •12+ years of direct and indirect tax regional experience with majority of time spent in a combination of: Big 4 accounting and/or law firm AND multinational tech companies platform / sharing economy experience strongly preferred.
- •Strong foundation of tax technical knowledge with in-depth, practical experience evaluating and advising on international business initiatives.
- •Regional tax experience required, which includes specific experience managing Australian tax issues (including ATO and state tax audits, as well as Advance Pricing Arrangements), as well as South Korea.
- •Must operate independently and act as a strategic business advisor, while keeping all stakeholders informed of local issues, while seeking input and collaborating within the Tax team and cross functionally where appropriate.
- •Strong analytical and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work, influence stakeholders and communicate effectively.
- •Some international travel may be required.
- •CA / CPA and/or LLB / LLM preferred.
