Overview

Join a B2B fintech company as a Senior Ledger Platform Engineer to build a new generation ledger and reconciliation infrastructure. Salary range: $4000–6000. Our company finances small and medium businesses in the UAE through BNPL, Invoice Discounting, and Dealer Finance products and is actively entering the Saudi Arabian market.

Responsibilities

  • β€’Understand the current accounting logic: how balances, accruals, commissions, extensions, and adjustments pass through 1C and turn into entries in QuickBooks.
  • β€’Identify discrepancies between operational accounting and the general ledger and determine how to make reconciliation more transparent and automated.
  • β€’Conduct a build vs buy research: compare ledger-as-a-service solutions, a custom event-sourced ledger, and the development of the current platform in terms of timelines, costs, risks, and UAE/KSA requirements.
  • β€’Design the target ledger architecture and chart of accounts, as well as define the mapping of domain events to accounting entries for BNPL, Invoice Discounting, and Dealer Finance.
  • β€’Determine the boundary between operational subledger and statutory General Ledger.
  • β€’Design an automatic reconciliation system that can proactively detect discrepancies and trace any balance back to the original business event.
  • β€’Plan a phased migration from the current 1C / QuickBooks setup without stopping ongoing credit operations.
  • β€’Work directly with engineering, finance/accounting, and risk teams on reflecting accruals, reserves, collections, write-offs, refunds, and other credit cycle events.
  • β€’Consider the specifics of two jurisdictions β€” UAE and KSA, including different legal entities, currencies, and accounting requirements.

Conditions

  • β€’Experience with credit products: BNPL, invoice discounting, asset-backed / dealer finance is a plus.
  • β€’Knowledge of financial and regulatory requirements in UAE and/or KSA is a plus.
  • β€’Experience implementing IFRS 9 / ECL in the context of ledger systems is a plus.
  • β€’Experience working closely with finance/accounting/controlling teams and participating in audit cycles is a plus.

Requirements

  • β€’At least 3 years of experience in developing or operating ledger, accounting, or reconciliation systems within fintech, payments, or lending companies.
  • β€’Practical experience in situations where the subledger and General Ledger diverged, and understanding how to diagnose and resolve such discrepancies.
  • β€’Strong hands-on backend background β€” NestJS / TypeScript or a similar stack. This is not purely an architectural role: you will need to implement the solution yourself.
  • β€’Deep understanding of double-entry accounting principles and their application to real financial events.
  • β€’Understanding of the credit lifecycle: issuance, accruals, payments, commissions, extensions, reserves, write-offs, refunds, and other operations.
  • β€’Experience with event-driven architecture and understanding of Domain-Driven Design principles.
  • β€’Understanding the importance of immutability, idempotency, replayability, and audit trail for financial systems.
  • β€’Experience integrating or migrating with ERP/accounting systems β€” for example, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Odoo, 1C, or similar.
  • β€’Ability to work with a high degree of uncertainty: independently investigate problems, formulate solutions, and defend architectural choices.
