Block is seeking a Senior Litigation Counsel to lead complex litigation and regulatory enforcement matters, providing strategic legal guidance in a fast-paced environment. You Will

  • •Lead strategy for significant litigation and regulatory enforcement matters from pre-litigation through resolution
  • •Advise senior leadership on legal risk, enforcement trends, and business impact, particularly in areas affecting fintech, payments, and data use
  • •Manage and partner closely with outside counsel to drive high-quality, efficient outcomes
  • •Personally engage on critical aspects of matters, including legal strategy, discovery, and key filings
  • •Handle complex disputes across areas such as class actions, commercial litigation, privacy, and consumer protection
  • •Work exceptionally closely with other Counsel teams—including Policy, Product, Regulatory, and Corporate—to align on risk and strategy
  • •Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Engineering, Compliance, and Risk to proactively identify and mitigate issues, consistent with business priorities

You Have

  • •J.D. and active bar membership
  • •10+ years of litigation experience at a leading law firm, government agency, or in-house
  • •Experience leading complex litigation and/or regulatory enforcement matters; bonus for deep securities litigation experience
  • •Expertise in areas such as class actions, commercial disputes, privacy, and/or financial regulatory enforcement issues
  • •Experience in litigation for a public company, including financial reporting, audit, and governance obligations
  • •Strong judgment and the ability to translate legal risk into practical business guidance
  • •Exceptional collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively across legal disciplines and cross-functional teams
  • •Excellent communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • •AI-first perspective, with interest in building and leveraging AI-driven tools for litigation management, discovery, and related workflows.
