Responsibilities

  • β€’Drive accountability and ownership across the global close processes to ensure timeliness and accuracy of deliverables.
  • β€’Drive adoption of AI and automation across your close areas, including AI-assisted reconciliations, automated accrual workflows, and leveraging the Databricks platform to yield close insights and reduce manual data preparation.
  • β€’Mentor and manage accounting staff, leading the coordination of the monthly, quarterly and annual close and reporting activities.
  • β€’Improve scalability and reduce manual effort - identify and implement process improvements, standard templates, and control points to simplify workflows, increase automation where possible.
  • β€’Review monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and accounting analysis for accruals (specifically cloud), and other functional areas, as needed.
  • β€’Support M&A activity including consolidation of acquired entities, involvement in new transactions, and integration into Databricks' accounting infrastructure.
  • β€’Review monthly fluctuation analysis for operating expenses.
  • β€’Partner with cross-functional teams, such as Technical Accounting, FP&A, Procurement, and AP on monthly close matters.
  • β€’Prepare and review support to be provided to external audit team.
  • β€’Support SOX compliance over the financial statement close cycle.
  • β€’Identify and implement process improvements and automation to reduce the time to close and improve the accuracy of underlying accounting records.
  • β€’Play an active role in our ERP transformation to SAP S/4HANA, contributing to design decisions, testing, and change management as we modernize our finance systems.
  • β€’Perform special projects and financial analysis as needed.

  • β€’Pay Range Transparency: The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents the expected salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location.
  • β€’Based on the factors above, Databricks anticipates utilizing the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
  • β€’Zone 1 Pay Range $145,700 β€” $200,300 USD.

Requirements

  • β€’Experience: 3+ years of public accounting and 3+ years of industry experience in a high-growth technology or SaaS environment.
  • β€’Credentials: CPA and Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • β€’Technical Accounting: Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and how to apply accounting rules across multiple processes, systems, and close areas.
  • β€’Systems & ERP: Experience with ERP systems; SAP S/4HANA experience preferred. Prior ERP implementation experience is a strong plus.
  • β€’The Automation Mindset: Proven track record driving automation and AI adoption in accounting operations, with hands-on experience implementing tools that reduce manual work and improve close accuracy. Familiarity with data platforms like Databricks is a strong plus.
  • β€’Ownership & Mindset: Execution-focused, deadline-driven, and process-oriented. You take responsibility for delivering quality work in a fast-paced environment and proactively identify and drive improvement opportunities.
  • β€’Leadership: Experience managing and coaching accounting staff, with a track record of developing others and driving team accountability.
