Responsibilities
- •Own all privacy workstreams relating to the collection, use and storage of data, associated policies and procedures and advising on product design, marketing consents, data sharing and privacy risk management as it relates to Immutable’s products and activities.
- •Advise on regulatory issues, including financial services regulation, payments and stored value, digital assets, AML/CTF, sanctions compliance, online safety, AI laws and other regulations relevant to Immutable’s technology and products. Where relevant, support the implementation of appropriate controls.
- •Partner with Product, Engineering, Growth and Commercial to assess legal and regulatory risk early in the product development process.
- •Where applicable, help the business prepare for regulatory change by identifying areas of impact early and preparing clear, actionable plans in response.
- •Support product and marketing compliance, including customer-facing content, lifecycle communications, campaign activity and platform related comms.
- •Help monitor and report on Immutable’s key risk dashboard.
- •Deliver concise advice for non-legal stakeholders, with a focus on available options, decisions and next steps rather than long-form memos.
- •Instruct and manage external counsel where required, including scoping work, managing timelines and supporting budget discipline.
- •Maximise the efficiency of the LRC function through leveraging AI, templates, playbooks, self-serve guidance, checklists and lightweight legal processes.
- •Build strong internal relationships and become a trusted business partner who can influence senior stakeholders on sound, practical legal outcomes.

Requirements
- •5 to 10 years PQE, with an Australian practising certificate and the ability to advise on Australian legal and regulatory requirements.
- •Strong privacy experience, including product privacy, data protection, consent, customer communications, marketing consent, privacy by design, cross-border data issues and privacy risk management. An understanding of both the Australian privacy framework and GDPR is desirable.
- •Experience advising on financial services regulatory matters, including Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act, AML/CTF laws, digital assets regulation, sanctions compliance, payments and online safety.
- •Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and timelines while maintaining high-quality legal outcomes and the rapid product development of products. Ideally, you have experience working with product and engineering teams in a technology environment.
- •Prior in-house experience in a scale-up, fintech, technology company or regulated business where autonomy, judgement and speed were required.
- •Exposure to risk and compliance workstreams.
- •Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work directly with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- •A track record of turning complex legal and regulatory concepts into clear, commercial and usable advice.
- •A collaborative style that works well in a lean legal team where people need to flex across specialist and generalist work.
